Hi all! I'm off to Tanzania for 8 months, this time conducting a socio-economic study looking at anthropogenic threats to the Mbizi Forest reserve in southern Tanzania. It's a project supported by UC Davis and WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society) and should provide lots more great fodder for blogging...hope you find it interesting!

i'm so glad you made it to the forest ok--i see you are quickly being introduced to the way things work in tanzania. or maybe the way things don't work. :) and i think you hit it right on when you compared the good days and the bad days. i felt the same intense juxtaposition in africa of really beautiful scenery and people and very heartbreaking and horrible conditions. i'm excited to hear more about your work. unajua kiswahili sasa? :)
